Update: Ride Kink & Contraband DFC Preview

Update: Pics added of the 09 Ride Kink

Raise your hand if you remember Preston bindings? OK, there are only a few of us. I see how this is going to be. well it seems Ride has come a long way from their days in Preston, WA. You'd be hard pressed to find a free rider who didn't love the Timeless back in its' hey day and who doesn't remember when Ride snowboards away from Burton? But, it can feel from time to time like they are hanging out and never really getting out in front.

Maybe it's the fact that Ride really does go by their slogan "it's a little something we do". Maybe, just maybe. Then again I think ride is a sleeper and will continue to win riders over one at a time. The Theory was great pipe deck and the prophet was a solid replacement. What happens next year with the JB Classic X Ride snowboards collab decks will be sick... This little binder though this really caught my eye.

Made for the rider who is hot lapping the park. Ride is dropping the Contraband binding new for the '08-'09 season. Once again, the slumbering little giant of a snowboard company has shifted their massive design weight and come up with something interesting. Really interesting. Let the engineering geeks say it won't work. The proof is in the riding. Big thumbs up to ride for having the balls to take a chance. Now lets see if it takes off. Enjoy the Ride Contraband DFC.

So the idea behind this is that engineers will tell you that it wont work so it will work?

The idea is to ride the binder and see if it works. I've heard conflicting opinions from engineers on whether this will work or not. Eventually you have to move out of the "theoretical space" and into doing actual use case scenarios, i.e. testing the binding.

I rode these bindings and whooooo nelly did these things suck a fat dick. If zero response was the goal with these puppys then Ride hit the nail on the head.
