Lib Tech 2008 2009 Preview

So a few months back i received some images in the "electronic mail" which is used to pass data back and forth on the "infowebs." I posted the images excited to share what I think is potentially the future of snowboarding. Long story short: I got my hand slapped and was asked to take down the images. I respectfully complied. Another part of the request said "after January 28th... do what you want". I took some massive paraphrasing liberties there.

We are beyond the 28th and let the posting begin. Enjoy. I will say this Mervins magnetraction is pretty much one of the coolest things to happen with snowboard construction in a long time. I'll have a video blog review of the GNU Riders Choice coming later this week. One of the "most fun" boards I have ever ridden. So much god damn pop it hurts. In the interim enjoy the 2009 Lib Tech line up. Let the debate begin now if '09 will be the year Mervin began to change snowboarding, again.

  3. I thought that Banna refered to the reverse camber, my bad.

  4. Combine Banana Tech and MagnaTraction(MTX) for BTX

  5. Any chance you know the sizes of the boards? I'm looking at the pink and purple skate banana (obviously I am a chick) and would want it in like a 145 or so. Just thought I'd ask but I am getting pumped now!!!

  6. Pretty sure the Skate Banana's do not look like that for 09. Design has black striping all over the top sheet for that line. I saw the 2009 Lib Tech catalog last week in my snowboard shop and I've seen 09's on Ebay that have the striped style on the top sheet as well.

  7. yea those bananas are this seasons late releases. Our shop got a few of the blue ones. They were super limited.

  8. Are they still making the TRS series with both Magne-Traction and Banana on one board?

  11. The TRS is at the top , it just doesnt say it. If you look at the top sheet , you can see it says TRS.

  12. Can anyone compare the ride of the Skate, Dark, and Jamie Lynn? Leaning to Dark for the slashier responsiveness.

  13. i rode the mc kink btx and the skate banana at a demo. I liked the kink more but i'm tall and heavy and it supported me and rode more stable with good pop. The skate felt a lot more loose and was super fun to press and butter.

  17. I need some help and you seem to know a lot about Lib Tech. I don't do the park and mostly try to stay off the beaten path, especially liking powdery tree runs. The problem is that I don't have the cash for a dedicated powder board. I need to get an all-mountain board that is great in powder, but can still do hardpack and ice if I need it to. I was thinking about the Never Summer Premier or the Burton Supermodel X. Then, someone mentioned the banana and magnatraction technology and what I have read seems sweet. The problem is that most of the hype focuses on the park. Would a banana-traction board be best for my freeride tastes, and if so, which one??? I'm 5'10", 150lbs and currently ride a 159 Burton Cascade (which in my opinion, doesn't hold a high speed edge well enough and burns my back leg in the deep stuff) Thanks

  18. Are there any big differences between the travis rice 07-08 model and 08-09 model beside the graphics?

  19. HOW DO I GET ONE?

  20. To above post seeking some info. Id try the TRS series with Naners and MTX. I ride the 159 and its pretty much a quiver killer. Ive rode it everywhere this season and I love it. It has a pretty aggressive sidecut for flying around and the tip and tail have saved my ass plenty of times. Edge hold is no question with MTX and at 150 lbs , youll fell like 200 with the reversed freedom loving banana technology. Get yourself one early son !

  31. Whats the difference between the TRS BTX 157 and a Skatebanana 156. I'm thinking of getting a 08/09 for the next season. Ride park alot, but all mountain alot more, tons of pow and cliffs. Liked the 07 skatebanana alot that a friend had, saw the TRS, and was wondering what the main differences are. Sounds like a few of you are sponsored by them so thought you could help. Ideas?
